The Big Picture

Molecular motors are at the heart of cellular biology: from cellular sorting, to DNA synthesis. I am working to understand the core parts necessary of a protein motor by engineering a synthetic protein motor that is powered by light and actuated through protein folding. This is done using LOV2, a light sensitive protein from the plant phototropism response.
