The Big Picture

My work is two-fold: to engineer better fluorescent proteins and utilize them to answer fundamental questions in cell biology.

I am developing new fluorescent protein variants with improved physical and photochemical properties, which have greater versatility. I apply these proteins to my work directed toward answering basic questions about translocation to, retention in, and export from the endoplasmic reticulum.
