I study the kinetics of small RNA (sRNA)-mediated translation regulation in bacteria using single-molecule fluorescence microscopy and stochastic simulations

Bacteria employ sRNAs to regulate gene expression in response to stress. My imaging technique allows for real-time observation of individual translating mRNAs in live cells.  By performing these experiments under simulated stress conditions, and combining experiments with kinetic modeling, I aim to develop a quantitative understanding of sRNA-mediated regulation
