The Graduate Program in Biophysical Sciences is proud to be a recipient of an Interfaces Award for Interdisciplinary Graduate Education. The HHMI-NIBIB Interfaces Initiative marks the first collaboration between the National Institutes of Health and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute - Two pillars of biomedical research funding in the United States. The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and BioEngineering is the participating institute.

The University of Chicago enjoys a second connection with the HHMI. Students in the Janelia Farms Graduate Program can come to The UofC for their first year coursework. These Janelia students take the same rigorous interdisciplinary curriculum as the students in Biophysical Sciences. The best interdisciplinary education available.
